Kansas City Chiefs Overcome 11-Point Deficit to Defeat Colts in Overtime
Kansas City – In NFL Week 12, the Kansas City Chiefs completed a surprising comeback, defeating the Indianapolis Colts 23–20 in overtime. The winning moment came when kicker Harrison Butker scored his fifth field goal of the game, securing the victory for Kansas City.
Patrick Mahomes delivered a standout performance, throwing for 352 yards and leading the offense throughout the game. In the run game, Kareem Hunt contributed 104 rushing yards and one touchdown, keeping the Chiefs competitive when the team needed momentum.
Rashee Rice also emerged as a key figure, finishing with eight receptions for 141 yards. His crucial catches helped shift the balance of the game and played a major role in Kansas City's push to overtime.
The turning point came in the fourth quarter, when the Chiefs erased an 11-point deficit and tied the game with a 25-yard field goal from Butker. The Kansas City defense then rose to the occasion in overtime, repeatedly stopping the Colts with three-and-out drives. The Chiefs followed with a 12-play drive, allowing Butker to kick another successful field goal with 1:57 left in the extra period, sealing the 23–20 win.
On the Colts’ side, play-calling and offensive decisions came under criticism. Indianapolis leaned more on passing late in the game instead of emphasizing the run, a shift that did not deliver the desired results. Star running back Jonathan Taylor finished the game with just 58 yards on 16 rushing attempts.
For Kansas City, this victory may prove to be a pivotal moment in their season. After back-to-back losses, the Chiefs not only regained momentum but also strengthened their playoff positioning
