Elon Musk Resigns U.S. Advisory Post

Elon Musk has resigned from his advisory role at the request of U.S. President Donald Trump. Musk was a member of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which had been established with the mission of reducing federal spending.

During his time in office, Musk oversaw the imposition of drastic cuts in the federal workforce and implemented budget reforms. He resigned on his social media platform X, thanking Trump and stating he felt the mission of DOGE would be preserved.

Musk denounced the administration's new budget proposal, the "One Big Beautiful Bill," that it would increase the federal deficit and besmirch DOGE's motive.

The White House clarified that Musk was not an official DOGE director but an unofficial advisor to President Trump without formal authority over government decisions. Some U.S. states have nevertheless filed a lawsuit alleging Musk overstepped constitutional boundaries by accessing federal systems without permission.

Upon resigning from his position, Musk stated that he would be spending more time on his own businesses such as Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI, and shift his focus away from political activism.
